The bar—Nameless, befitting how he'd wanted to live his life, but no longer—was busier than he would've liked. It was mostly regulars but King couldn't ignore there was a face—or two— that he didn't quite recognize.

Roy didn't bother with an answer. His stare cut through the dim light and tension of the bar, with eyes both cold and calculating. The brief moment was all he needed to size up the bruiser pouring drinks. With a deliberate motion, he snatched the shot glass in front of him.

Tilting his head back, he downed the bourbon in one smooth motion. The glass hit the counter with a sharp thud as he exhaled, a subtle hint of burnt bourbon lingering like dragon's breath.

"What do you want?" His voice was low and edged with a dangerous calm, eyes never leaving the stranger.

Roy's grin sharpened into something predatory as the name sank in. His canines glinted under the dim bar lights, his expression mirroring the reptiles lurking in the rafters. The more the man spoke, the more Roy's lips curled back, exposing the primal edge beneath his calm exterior.

The realization hit him like a sledgehammer; this guy, partially fluent in the draconid tongue, could only have learned it by touching it with freya morningstar's. The thought alone was enough to send Roy's blood boiling.

Without warning, he launched himself out of his seat, closing the distance in an instant. His hand shot out, attempting to grip the man's collar. He yanked him close, the threat clear in his eyes as he growled in his native tongue.

"Si geou sho'voth wux."

It took every iota of self-control to not react as Roy reaches out for his collar, the urge to flatten his nose sending shivers down his spine. But, as he reminds himself once more, this was someone Freya respected, and he didn't want to piss off his wife.[break][break]

The bartender's words did little to quell the storm brewing inside Roy. He exhaled sharply, disgust evident in the way his breath hissed out. His fingers slowly unclenched, releasing their grip as he stepped back, putting distance between himself and the man. Dropping back into his seat, Roy casually reached for the shot glass in front of him.

"So much for a king," he muttered, a sly grin tugging at the corner of his mouth as he idly etched marks into the bartop with the edge of his glass. It was a quiet jab, one that amused him as much as it mocked the man in front of him.

He barely gestured to the bar around them, his voice laced with a subtle indifference and judgment. "You run all this?"
